In the midst of growing concerns about our planet's warming climate, it is becoming increasingly important to address the challenges posed by rising global temperatures. Human activities, ranging from everyday actions such as driving cars to industrial operations, contribute to the release of GHG into the atmosphere. These gases play a crucial role in trapping heat and causing the Earth's temperature to rise. As part of the global effort to combat climate change, the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) have set ambitious targets for reducing GHG emissions. These goals reflect an international commitment to creating a more sustainable future for our planet. To effectively achieve these targets, the validation and verification of greenhouse gas emissions play a critical role. Through a thorough validation and verification process, we ensure the accurate measurement and tracking of emissions from various sources. Efforts to validate and/or verify GHG emissions are a fundamental step towards protecting the future of our planet and fostering a more sustainable global community.

ISO 14064 (Greenhouse Gases)

- Part of the ISO 14060 family, this standard provides clarity and consistency for measuring, monitoring, reporting, and validating or verifying greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and removals.

- Improves the credibility, consistency, and transparency of quantifying, monitoring, reporting, verifying, and validating GHG emissions.

- Voluntary initiatives.

- The Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (MRV) process refers to Presidential Regulation 98 of 2021 and Minister of Environment and Forestry Regulation 21 of 2022.

Objectives :

Accurate Data: Validation and Verification ensures that the data regarding greenhouse gas emissions is precise and reliable. Accurate data is essential for making informed policy decisions and tracking progress toward emission reduction targets.

Environmental Accountability: By validating and verifying emissions, industries, and governments are held accountable for their contributions to greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere. This accountability is vital in promoting responsible behavior and encouraging efforts to reduce emissions.

GHG Acknowledgement : Through the validation and verification of GHG reports, we attain dependable data that informs sound decision-making and facilitates the formulation of effective strategies for reducing emissions. Additionally, this verified GHG data holds significance both nationally and internationally, contributing to its recognition on a global scale.

At the end of the verification process, Bureau Veritas will issue an opinion based on the verification results with the following conditions:

1) Unmodified Opinion = granted if all criteria have been met and all findings have been satisfactorily resolved.

2) Modified Opinion = given if all criteria have been met but there are still corrective actions that need to be taken.

3) Adverse opinion = given if there are criteria that cannot be met. 

4) Disclaiming the issuance of an opinion = given if participants can-not provide supporting data during the verification process.
