Rising Focus on Operational Excellence and ESG Compliance in the Energy Sector

The global energy sector is undergoing a profound transformation driven by demands for safer, cleaner, and more efficient operations. In Indonesia, companies like PT Pertamina Hulu Kalimantan Timur (PHKT)—a subsidiary of PT Pertamina Hulu Indonesia—are aligning with this trend through strategic capacity-building programs. From 8 to 10 July 2025 in Bandung, Bureau Veritas Indonesia, in collaboration with PT Prosys Bangun Persada, led an intensive In-House Training and Strategic Workshop to strengthen PHKT’s operational reliability and sustainability.

The Need for Integrated Frameworks to Ensure Safety, Sustainability, and Compliance
With increased regulatory scrutiny and stakeholder expectations, upstream oil and gas companies face pressure to adopt transparent, data-driven practices. PHKT’s engagement in this training marks a strategic shift from traditional compliance to proactive performance management, incorporating best practices in MMRV (Measurement, Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification), NDT (Non-Destructive Testing), and PSAIMS (Process Safety and Asset Integrity Management System).

Building a Resilient and Future-Ready Energy Industry
The program not only equipped PHKT teams with technical know-how but also opened possibilities for broader transformation in Pertamina’s operational culture. MMRV enables measurable sustainability performance, NDT offers predictive asset maintenance, and PSAIMS embeds a safety-first mindset. This initiative lays the foundation for a more resilient and future-ready organization capable of navigating the complexities of energy transition.

Strategic Knowledge-Sharing and Tailored Training by Bureau Veritas
Bureau Veritas acted as the lead facilitator, delivering hands-on sessions tailored to PHKT’s operational context. Experts shared insights on QTP (Quality Transformation Program), PMC (Project Management Consulting), MMRV, NDT, and PSAIMS. The sessions emphasized real-world applications, risk-based approaches, and global best practices. As Kidung Ajisurya, Head of Sales and Marketing for Infrastructure, noted:

“We are committed to equipping our partners with the expertise and insight needed to operate safely, sustainably, and efficiently. When we empower field teams with the right knowledge, we’re investing in the future of Indonesia’s energy landscape.”

In addition, Deddy Syam, Key Account Executive for Pertamina, underlined the client-centric nature of the collaboration:
“We design our training to address the exact challenges faced by the field team—this is what makes it impactful and actionable.”

By prioritizing long-term value creation over short-term fixes, this partnership between Bureau Veritas and PHKT exemplifies how targeted training can drive real transformation. It also showcases the critical role of technical expertise in shaping the energy systems of tomorrow.
